Something about me you don't know: I got struck by lightning when I was 8 years old and lived to tell about it.

A LITTLE MORE:

I was called into the ministry when I was a senior in high school and served my first paid staff position at age 18.  I pastored my first church while in college at age 20 and have been pastoring ever since.  Judy and I got married while in college in 1976 (something I wouldn't advise anyone to do today). We thoroughly enjoy our family and are extremely proud of our children and grandchildren.  Judy recently retired from teaching high school English, so it gives her time to travel to see the kids. In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf, writing, and serving on the faculty of Southern Seminary.

At Southern Seminary, I have been teaching classes on Church Revitalization for several years, both at the Master’s and doctoral levels.  It is through my research and teaching that I have published 2 books on church revitalization.  I also have developed a desire to consult with churches regarding this important task.
